State Bank of India issues a debit card to all eligible account holders. We can use this debit card for both offline and online transactions.
Offline transactions are enabled by default on all debit cards. But this is not the case with international transactions.
If you want to use your card Internationally. Then you will need to manually activate the SBI debit card for international transactions.
This can be done online with the help of online banking. Before you start the process, make sure you have your username and login password with you.
In the event that you are not registered for Internet banking services. Then you can register using the “New User” option on the bank’s official website.
Steps to Activate SBI Debit Card for International Transactions
Time needed: 5 minutes
You can activate the SBI debit card for international transactions within 5 minutes using online banking.
- Visit the Official Website of the State Bank of India.
The first thing you need to do is open your web browser and visit the bank’s official website.
- Log into your online banking account.
The next thing you need to do is log into your online banking account by entering your login username and password.
- Click on e-Services.
An e-Services option is available in the top menu bar of the online banking interface. You must select it by clicking on it.
- Select ATM Card Services.
You must select “ATM Card Services” in the e-Services section.
- Click on ATM Card Limit/Channel/Usage Change.
On the ATM Card Services page, you must select the option ATM Card Limit/Channel/Usage Change option.
- Select your Bank Account Number.
Here you need to select the bank account number or the nickname of the account to which your debit card is linked.
- Choose your Debit Card to Activate for International Transactions.
All the debit cards that are linked to your selected account number will be listed on your screen. Here you have to choose the debit card which you want to activate for international transactions.
- Select Change Usage Type from the Drop-down menu.
You must now select “Change usage type” using the drop-down menu.
- Select International Usage from the Next Drop-down menu.
You will get another drop-down menu on the next page after selecting “Change usage type”. You must now select “International usage” using the new drop-down menu.
- Change the Settings to Enable and click on Submit.
This is the last step where you have to change the settings to “Enable International Usage” and click on the “Submit” button.
